Warping Service

24-Apr-07

Don’t want to spend all that time warping your tracks in Ableton? I don’t blame you — it’s a major pain in the ass. These guys will do it for you — for a fee, of course.

Average Homeboy

10-Apr-07

Oh, man, this is seriously bad. But funny. Do you think this “Average Homeboy” will ever get his big break?

10 - 4 Baby

08-Apr-07

Simon Iddol recently released another WHA!? bootleg compilation, this time titled 10 - 4 Baby. Always raising the bar, this time Simon has included a PDF comic book to accompany his consummate WHA!? track selection. It’s absolutely amazing — this boy has major graphic design talent! Anyways, here’s the track listing:

Cover Art

26-Mar-07

Check out this great collection of mashup cover art Simon Iddol has designed over the past few months. This boy has some serious Photoshop talent! Would be cool if we could get posters of these! (And the Bootie flyer face mash-ups, too!)

Reactable

26-Mar-07

Reactable is a table-top instrument that reacts to the various objects (and shapes of those objects) placed upon it. It’s difficult to describe, but you’ll understand once you’ve seen the video.

(Thanks Rupert!)

Daft Punk Trainspotter

25-Mar-07

I knew Daft Punk relied heavily on samples for their post-Homework sound, but I had no idea it was to this extent! A great video for all the dance music trainspotters out there.

Tunes for the Weekend

23-Mar-07

It’s been a while, but Dunproofin’ has finally released the Thursday installment of his Black Mix. This is good stuff — you won’t want to miss it.

Also of note is the Go Home Productions’ 6 Mix Comic Relief Mix now available for download. It was originally produced for BBC 6 Music and aired 3/16/2007. Kind [...]

Bootie LA: 3 Good Reasons

01-Mar-07

This coming Saturday, March 3rd, Bootie takes their show on the road to the Echo in Los Angeles, California. This Bootie, though, is no ordinary Bootie. It’s an extra special Bootie to me for a few important reasons:

Earworm is DJing. You won’t hear finer mashups than the ones this man creates. He is absolutely obsessed with the mashup artform and [...]

Famous Sounds

01-Mar-07

“Famous sounds” are sounds that have been created or used by somebody, liked and then copied by many others, and thus earned a “classic” status.

I love trainspotter lists like this.

Serato YouTube Round-Up

23-Feb-07

Just a few Serato video links to share — good stuff if you’re interested in digital DJing.
Rane has produced a pretty decent Scratch Live tutorial:

Overview
Playback Modes
Visual Aids
Organizing Your Library
Setup and Calibration
Mic Record

Using the Serato timecode audio with a Pioneer DVJ-1000? Cool. But not as cool as native support in Scratch Live for video.
A nice demonstration [...]
