The History of House Music

“Pump Up the Volume: The History of House Music” is a film that “follows the evolution of house music from its birth in Chicago to the myriad of diverse music it has since spawned.” It’s absolutely fantastic and ironically impossible to purchase a legitimate copy from what I can tell! It was originally broadcast on BBC Channel 4 and has not made it to DVD for a proper release, unfortunately.

Thanks to the wonders of technology, a very kind soul has made it available for viewing on YouTube. Check out the videos after the jump.

    Las Vegas,your right though…every aspect of house music makes up where it originally began…
    It ISNT about where it is,its about where its at!!!!!!
    People…we are all part of a revolution in sound…NEVER before has there been a sound or movement that has covered so many continents,joined together so many creeds,races and religions as house music…
    Be proud,dont try to say 1 is better than the other…
    they are all the same in conception…
    Just heard in different ways!!!!!

    I didn’t know about this one.

    I know of a few others I’m sure you’ve heard of like Dark Beat (electro), Modulations and the others you can generally find.

    I’ll have to check this one out.
