This coming Saturday, March 3rd, Bootie takes their show on the road to the Echo in Los Angeles, California. This Bootie, though, is no ordinary Bootie. It’s an extra special Bootie to me for a few important reasons:
- Earworm is DJing. You won’t hear finer mashups than the ones this man creates. He is absolutely obsessed with the mashup artform and if you show up, you’ll hear first hand just what I’m talking about.
- The book. Earworm is not just an accomplished mashup DJ — but also an author! With over a year in the making, his book Audio Mashup Construction Kit is now out on shelves. Not only is this the definitive tome on how to create your own mashups, it’s also a bit of a history lesson of the artform itself. The book means a lot to me for a number of reasons, one of them being that I was part of the publisher’s team that reviewed and edited it. It’s a great feeling to finally see it finished and in the hands of the masses. If you show up to Bootie LA, you will have a chance to win a signed copy. Hell, I don’t even have a signed copy, and I was the technical editor!
- The Immaterial Mousketeers. What can I say — I’m excited and honored that there will be a special mashup performance staged to one of MY mashups. Apparently the midnight show will be to the tune of Material Mickey, my Madonna vs. Toni Basil vs. Quiet Riot vs. Bay City Rollers mashup. How neat is that? I would love to see this in person!
So there you go — just a few great reasons (besides the awesome Paul V., Adrian, and Mysterious D…) to check out Bootie LA this weekend! For other great reasons, check out the Bootie LA web site.
