DJ equipment manufacturer Allen & Heath have recently teamed up with independent software vendor Mixed In Key to distribute a Xone branded version of their key analysis software. Claiming to “eliminate all key clashes, out-of-key vocals and muddy mixes from your DJ sets,” Mixed In Key is for DJs who want to mix with music theory in mind.

Saturday, February 10th, I’ll be spinning a mash-up set at the Kinky Salon Sweethearts Ball in San Francisco. Last I heard, I’ll be on from midnight until 2 am in the main bar area. This is also the same night as Bootie, so I will likely be exposing a much different crowd of people to the world of bootlegs, [...]
Another WHA!? compilation has been released today, this time with an 80s theme. Appropriately titled Stuck in the Eighties, the mash-up compilation features tracks from bootleg favorites DJ Zebra, Divide & Krate, team9, and more. All in all, an excellent selection of tracks. My favorites include “Girls Just Wanna Dance With Somebody” and “A New Treasure.”

MySpace friend kliz9 recently gave my Madonna/Toni Basil mashup “Material Mickey” the video remix treatment and it turned out very cool! Check out the video on YouTube.

By the way, while you’re at his site check out his tunes. It’s quality stuff, promise!
[Update 1/20/2007: Link fixed! Thanks Victor.]
Stanton and Native Instruments recently dissolved their Final Scratch relationship, leaving a lot of customers stuck with a proprietary audio interface and dead end software. In light of this dilemma, Stanton has decided to “open” access to their Scratch Amp — basically betting the farm that 3rd party software developers will want to implement native support for the [...]
Is producer Timbaland plagiarizing the work of unknown artists and releasing as his own, or are these recent accusations simply an example of the infinite monkey theorem? This YouTube video presents some pretty compelling evidence that Timbaland is likely guilty of plagiarism.
It’s that time again! This coming Saturday — that’s January 13th, 2007 – Bootie is proud to present their first mashup party of the new year.
And boy is it a busy month! In the main room, Bootie will feature an on-stage showcase set from resident DJ Party Ben. He’s been cooking up a fresh batch of mashed-up material, including new [...]
