Yes, it’s true. There is now a DJing for Dummies book. It seems like there is a Dummies book for everything these days!

  2. Ok, the acid test:

If you can name the deck used on the cover photo, you don’t need to buy this book.

Let’s see who else can get it. ;)

  4. I’m gonna be as embarrassed as hell if this is wrong, but it’s the Vestax PDX 2000 (MkI) - and those AREN’T my hands…

(I feel like a media whore posting in a response to a post about my book, but hey - if it means I don’t need to buy another copy of it… :-)

If you’ve got any questions about it, please get in touch.

  5. Doh! And I suppose you already knew you’d get heckled about the Dummies thing, right John? :)

Regardless, congrats on the book! I’ll be looking for it at Barnes & Noble…

  6. Ha! Yeah, I knew it would take a bit of getting over for some folks - but I kinda hoped the ‘reputation’ that the recess.co.uk site has gained over the past 10 years would offset that.

Apart from a nice review on Amazon.co.uk - I’ve not seen anything about how people like (or , eek, don’t like) the book - I guess the New Year, and when it comes out in the US - will be the real test.

And did I get the deck wrong? Is that why it’s now in bold ;-(

    Thanks for congrats though!

  7. Yes, looks like Amazon (in the U.S.) will stock it sometime at the end of January or early February… so it will be a bit of time before it makes it over here.

And I have no idea about the deck. I’ve owned the same pair of 1200s for 17 years (with a few repairs here and there)… never bothered to try anything else… !! My biggest DJ “upgrade” has been to Serato…
