Bootie British Invasion

This coming Saturday, November 11th, 2006, San Francisco’s Bootie will host not one, not two, not even three … but eight – count ‘em – eight guest DJs from the UK!

Leading the charge is infamous bootleg artist Eric Kleptone (aka The Kleptones). Rising above simple “bastard pop,” Eric has honed four full-length conceptual albums of bootleg music with actual running narratives and unchallenged imagination.

You might know his first album, Yoshimi Battles The Hip-Hop Robots, which blended the Flaming Lips album with rap vocals. Eric later released A Night At The Hip-Hopera, which mixed hip-hop with the music of Queen. Earlier this year, The Kleptones released the epic double album 24 Hours, their most ambitious release yet, and one that has been universally hailed as “the first true mashup concept album.”

Bootie will also host a “club-within-a-club” as UK club Bastard takes over in the upstairs lounge. Bastard was the first mashup bootleg club night in the world, and it was also the party that originally inspired Bootie. Seven Bastard DJs will perform including sets from Juxtaposeur, Ian Fondue, SupercolliderThe Overhope Organisation, Phil n’ Dog, and Instamatic. It’s literally the “who’s who” of Bastard.

Bootie house band Smash-up Derby will be hitting the stage at 11 pm, and in keeping with the English theme of the evening, they plan to perform UK only mashups. Expect to hear some tunes that were big hits in England, along with a few forgotten favorites!

This month’s Bootie will also feature a Pirate Hat Fashion Show featuring the creations of The Indra. All hats will be available for purchase after the show!

And of course, as usual, resident DJs A + D, Party Ben, and Dada will be spinning your favorites throughout the night.

It’s quite a lot to keep track of, isn’t it? Hope you can make it!

Bootie (inside the DNA Lounge), is located at 375 11th Street is San Francisco, California. Doors open at 10 pm. Get there early for free CDs!
