The best online resource for the product (besides the forum) is the SSL User Wiki, a community maintained product knowledge base. One of my favorite gems buried in this Wiki is the keyboard shortcut sticker.

Now, try not to laugh at my lack of knowledge, but do any of you Serato-ites know if Serato’s sequencing features ( or any of its features for that matter) can be executed without turntables? Can you simply use a lap top? I understand I’m a baby in the game. I appreciate any insight.

Yes, you can use Serato Scratch Live with only a laptop but it’s not fun. This method is referred to as “internal mode”. Do your homework at http://scratchlive.net
Get the Numark DMC2 and use in Internal mode “what an experience!!”
