Just a quick reminder for mash-up fans in the San Francisco Bay Area — Bootie is back at the DNA Lounge this coming Friday, July 14th, 2006. So what’s in store this month?
First up — from Toronto, Canada — it’s Smash Hitley, who performs epic audio and visual mixes that he plays live on a keyboard. Each tune contains 20 to 80 layers of sounds, samples, video images, effects, and loops across a 76-note keyboard — all without sequencers or backing tracks! Hitley goes on at 10 pm, so get there early if you want to catch him.
The other special guest that night is San Francisco’s DJ Earworm. Those familiar with the bootleg scene already know that Earworm is one of the best mashup artists working today, taking bastard pop to new levels of complexity and artistry.
And of course Smash-Up Derby, the go-go dancers, and resident DJs Party Ben, Mysterious D, Adrian, and Dada will all be there. Don’t miss it!
DNA Lounge is located at 375 11th Street is San Francisco, California. Doors open at 10 pm. Get there early for free CDs!
