What’s up with bad ID3 tags on MP3’s from mash-up artists and remixers? Why does everyone want to tag their genre polka and plug their web site in the artist field? I hate to bitch and moan like Andy Rooney but I can’t even begin to explain how much of a pain in the ass this is to clean up when you have a large music collection.
Mash-up artists around the world, hear my plea to you: tag your tracks thoughtfully before releasing them!

Seconded.
Yes. Absolutely a big problem. Also, if you produce a mix and want to receive credit for it when it shows up on someone’s playlist, then this is a must as well. Why cheat yourself the opportunity to get credit for your mix?
This is so true, but it’s worth mentioning that bad tags are not always the artists’ fault. Sometimes people feel the need to mess with tags before redistributing. I’ve found mixes by myself and others floatingaround fileshares with junk like “DOWNLAODED FROMM BLAH-BLAH-AWESOME-TORRENT-SITE.COM” added into the comments, or even replacing the useful tags entirely.
Yes, this would make my life easier when I try to announce the music on my mashed radio show. I download so much music, it’s hard to remember exactly the DJ name to give credit, which I most certainly want to do!
exactly what i said months ago on my old blog but without much visits its difficult to tell others…
