The Pitch delivers an interview with DJ P, half of the production team behind the underground blend album Uneasy Listening (the other half being Z-Trip). There’s definitely the “blend is better than mash-up” attitude going on, something I find terribly alienating and disappointing to read. Elitist is what comes to mind — it’s the same bullshit about how producing a mash-up with a computer is “cheating” and that the “real thing” is put together live with two turntables. It’s just so … bitter. Can’t we just be friends? Hell, maybe even collaborate?
Seriously?

Jealousy and Fear are two words that pop in my head.
Hate to see what he thinks of dj’s that use SERATO.
It’s the bastard off-spring of the turntable and computer… heh…
Wow, he’s even moodier than Z-Trip…
Mind you, anyone who is under exclusive contract to the MGM Grand, and whose new album, in his own words is “…kind of fucking boring top 40 shit, but that’s what people want to hear” can bleat all he likes…
