It's open, it's stable, it's great.(version 1.4)

VDJ and Atomixmp3 are nice products but there is a handicap, they 're not free and not available for other systems than wintendo

I personally use VDJ.
<a href="http://www.virtualdj.com" rel="nofollow">http://www.virtualdj.com</a>

Mixxx does not look like a great DJ programme, but it is free. Have not tried it though.
If you want a cheap an reasonable DJ programme, you should look up AtomixMP3

I used Mixxx for a while - the last version I used was 1.0 or maybe 1.1.

I actually preferred it before they moved to Version 1.0 - the interface was changed significantly. And I had a lot of problems with it crashing.

That said - I enjoyed using it - it was a cheap and free way of DJ'ing on a laptop. It was also interesting because they've done some work on allowing the use of control surfaces.

If you're looking for an alternative to Traktor I would definitely suggest giving Mixxx a go - just be sure you do a lot of long sets in your bedroom first so you can be sure it won't crash on you.
