I’m excited to report that Ableton has just announced Live 5. The big new feature for me is the ability to handle MP3 files — finally! It also will reportedly attempt to do automatic tempo matching, setting the warp markers without user intervention. After reading through the new feature list, I must admit that this product really is maturing quite nicely. Now if they could only do something about the Star Trek interface! Shipping date is “late July 2005.”
Also, check out Create Digital Music’s coverage on the new version of Live. It’s apparent that they’re thinking the same thing I am — that the feature enhancements will make this new version a huge hit with mash-up produces and amateur remixers!

Oh, I am absolutely DROOOOOOLING over this! I can’t wait! MP3 support! Automatic warp-markering! A flange filter! An appegiator! Aaaaaiiiiighhh! It’s Christmas in July!
Me too! The new feature list seems to address all my major complaints (besides the goofy interface). Can’t wait to get my grubby hands on this to give it a whirl.
