I was totally sold on Vestax’s VRX-2000 vinyl cutting machine. That is until I saw the list price — around $20,000! Bargain hunters can find it online for around $11,000, though.
Yikes, did I just call that a bargain?

Speaking of turntables – I picked up the Numark PT01 Portable Turntable. It’s belt-driven, but it has RCA out, a preamp, pitch and tone control, and looks great (which is always nice). If you’re looking for a cheap but good portable, that’s the one.

As for the Vestax vinyl cutter – I guess if you were sure of demand you could buy one, and then charge DJ’s to make one-time cuttings of their tracks.
That Numark looks perfect for sneaking into Amoeba Records and previewing records. Although Amoeba seemingly makes you check everything at the door so maybe that’s not such a good plan. Do you local shops let you use it or do they give you shit?
haven’t tried taking it into a shop yet
But I have used it to lift some samples off vinyl and record direct to the hard-drive. Perfect!
The pitch is awful on the Numark PT01 Portable Turntable. Am I the only one who thinks so?
