Live Remixing

Belgium blogger Peter Forret wants a live remix tool with all the bells and whistles.  From the products I’ve seen, Ableton Live seems to be the closest match.  The biggest drawback, however, is still the lack of MP3 support in Ableton.  And I’m not certain they see this as an issue, so who knows if it will ever become a supported format in the product.  Despite this shortcoming, uber-DJ Sasha has built his own custom Ableton controller that he uses during his DJ sets.

  1. I vote Live. MP3s aside, everything else he’s describing can be done in Live — no automatic pitch, but sometimes it’s best to have that be manually controlled, anyway. Come on, you’ve got to do *some* work yourself! ;-) And the control means you can bring things in at harmony, etc.

Live 5, out in a month, does MP3.
