Crossfader Launches

GarageSpin is reporting that Microsoft has launched a beta of Crossfader, their new DJ / producer community web site.  Complete with forums, blogs, and music hosting, it’s poised to be the DJ and producer centric version of tribe.net or MySpace.  You can decide for yourself if that’s a good thing or a bad thing!

Seems an odd thing to do – there’s not much going on there at the moment – only a couple of posts on the forum.

Maybe they’re preparing the ground for some new audio-remixing software. Apple’s iLife suite might have them a little concerned…

OK, they’ve done it again. They launched another DJ site: The Scenario. GarageSpin reports it at:

  3. Yes, it is awfully ‘dead’ in those big corp. ‘communities.’ Which leaves doubts in my mind as to whether they will be embraced and eventually take off.

  4. Wow, looks a little lame. If it takes off, more power too them. But the site seems *very* corporate. I’m not sure getting Sprite involved is going to give Microsoft more clout with the kids.

  5. Personally, I’m more partial to communities like ccmixter.org. Check it out if you haven’t already!
