A Small New Future

I came across this older article in the LA Weekly that I feel compelled to share. I think it’s probably one of the most insightful pieces of music journalism I have ever read. Alec Hanley Bemis analyzes what he calls the “war between the Cynics and the True Believers,” an analogy he uses to describe the evolution of a struggle for relevance between the majors, the RIAA, and the indie labels. It’s long, but definitely worth reading.
