Free for the listening — and “legal”

The Boston Globe is running a “how-to” story on legally “recording” (ie. stream ripping) music from the net. “It’s not altogether good news for the recording industry, already busy trying to stamp out the music file-swappers,” the author states. Stream ripping has been around since the birth of Internet radio, and it’s not far off the mark to claim that it’s the safest, cheapest, and a theoretically legal way to acquire a vast music collection on the net.
