Hailed as a “breakthrough into electronica,” Prodigy’s Fat of the Land album delivered more than punk-infused breaks. With their single Smack My Bitch Up followed scandals in connection with the lyrics, including blacklisting by many US and Canadian radio stations along with the album being pulled from shelves at chain superstores Wal-Mart and K-Mart.
In contrast, Bad Cabbage’s single, You’re Rude (Get Fucked), is a fairly underground ‘sing-along’ with far filthier lyrics. Blended with Prodigy’s Smack My Bitch Up, the potential to lyrically offend the listener has risen to new heights. It will probably even musically offend a few of you.
