Good to see another radio show dedicated to mash-ups hit the normally Clear Channel infested airwaves. Here’s the press release:

DJ Muggs Hosts One Hour Program Devoted To New Breed Of Music Entertainment

“MASH-UP RADIO,” a new program featuring the latest music trend of combining vocal tracks from one song with instrumental tracks from a different song, will debut on K-Rock 92.3 FM in New York on Friday, August 13 (10:00 PM ET). Cypress Hill’s DJ Muggs will host the one-hour rock/hip-hop mix show. FM2 Radio, a full service radio imaging, production and syndication company based in Los Angeles, serves as producer of the broadcast.

Mash-ups have been a prominent part of the music culture in Europe for many years and have recently grown in popularity in the United States. DJ Muggs will debut never before heard mash-ups including Metallica vs. Bone Crusher, Linkin Park vs. Busta, Rage Against The Machine vs. DMX and Devo vs. 50 Cent.

“What started off as a hobby for club DJs, producers and computer enthusiasts has spawned club nights and numerous Internet websites,” said Rob Cross, Operations Manager, K-Rock. “Combining two genres of music into one great song is a phenomenon that deserves mainstream attention.”

Added Mike Peer, K-Rock Music Director “We’ve been watching this trend grow underground for the last few years and this is an idea whose time has clearly come.”

“I have been doing rock and hip-hop for a while now and I see the problem of trying to bridge the gap between rock fans listening to hip-hop and vice versa,” commented DJ Muggs. “Doing remixes is a good way to reach the kids that would not normally listen to that kind of music.”
