RipDigital offers CD to MP3 conversion service

So you have a huge CD collection but neither the patience or the inclination to convert them all to MP3? RipDigital will convert your collection for you for around $1 a CD (price varies by quantity). The upside is that they have a quick turn-around time and is reportably able to have a DVD disc full of high quality MP3s back to you within a week. The downside, however, is that they digitally watermark each MP3 so they can be traced back to you; in other words, don’t even think about sharing your music. A great idea for DJs looking to move into the digital domain, but an absolute Orwelian joke of a solution for the audio purist who values their privacy. I’m still confused as to why anyone would pay this company to help the RIAA track their music collection. The author of the Wired article, however, has a slightly more upbeat outlook for this service.
